{"id":66615,"date":"2026-07-06T12:35:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T09:35:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/curatorial.ro\/uncategorized-en\/a-queen-maria-painting-sold-three-times-the-estimated-price\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T12:35:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T09:35:17","slug":"a-queen-maria-painting-sold-three-times-the-estimated-price","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/curatorial.ro\/en\/art\/a-queen-maria-painting-sold-three-times-the-estimated-price\/","title":{"rendered":"A Queen Maria painting sold three times the estimated price"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"ptitle\">\u201cFlowering Branches and Landscape,\u201d<\/span> an oil on canvas signed by Queen Maria of Romania and dated 1906, fetched the highest price at the first auction organized by Alis on July 5, which had a sell-through rate of approximately 40 percent.<\/p>\n<p>With a starting price of 12,000 RON, the painting was sold for 32,000 RON.<\/p>\n<p>The portrait<span class=\"ptitle\">\u201cAna Ghyka,\u201d<\/span> an oil on canvas by Lars Hansen, was sold at <a href=\"https:\/\/curatorial.ro\/arta\/samuel-mutzner-si-regina-maria-a-romaniei-cele-mai-mari-estimari-in-prima-licitatie-alis-din-iulie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">auction<\/a> for 7,000 RON, which was also the starting price. \u201cRoses,\u201d an oil on cardboard by Constantin Artachino, was also sold for the same starting price of 5,000 RON. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisappointment,\u201d an oil painting on cardboard by M.H. Maxy, with a self-portrait study on the reverse, was sold for 4,000 RON, which was the starting price.<\/p>\n<p>Works by Nicolae Vermont, Constantin Piliu\u021b\u0103, Ana Ruxandra Ilfoveanu, and Alexandru \u021aipoia also found buyers.<\/p>\n<p>In the \u201cLiving Artists\u201d section, which featured ten works, only<span class=\"ptitle\">\u201cThe Red Nude\u201d\u2014<\/span> a pastel on gold leaf on paper mounted on cardboard by <span class=\"ptitle\">Vasile Pop Negre\u0219teanu (b. 1955)\u2014was sold , for 1,200 RON.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The auction of paintings and prints was led by<span class=\"ptitle\">\u201cT\u00e2rg \u00een Orient,\u201d<\/span> an oil on cardboard by Samuel Mutzner, a work with a starting price of 15,000 RON, which remained unsold.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cFlowering Branches and Landscape,\u201d an oil on canvas signed by Queen Maria of Romania and dated 1906, fetched the highest price at the first auction organized by Alis on July 5, which had a sell-through rate of approximately 40 percent.
