The presence of two Romanian galleries at Art Basel Paris, one of the world\u2019s most important art fairs, reaffirms this. Featuring artists such as Adrian Ghenie, Mihai Olos, Ion Grigorescu, Rachel Monosov, Terrence Musekiwa, and Nona Inescu, their participation brings to the forefront diverse artistic practices that explore current themes and open up new perspectives on contemporary art.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Plan B at Art Basel Paris<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Returning to Art Basel Paris<\/a> in the main section, the Cluj-based gallery Plan B\u2014which also has a location in Berlin\u2014is exhibiting works by Romanian artists Mihai Olos, Adrian Ghenie, and Ciprian Mure\u0219an, among others, as well as the French artist Achraf Touloub.<\/p>\n

Notable works include a self-portrait by Adrian Ghenie from 2026 and a large-scale piece inspired by his recent move to Rome. Ghenie, the second-best-selling<\/a> Romanian artist of all time, currently has an exhibition at the Palazzo Poli in Rome, open through November 15.
\nRegarding the works from Paris and those by the other artists at the booth, the gallery owners say they are in negotiations with several collectors.<\/p>\n

Catinca T\u0103b\u0103caru at Art Basel<\/strong><\/h2>\n

With eighteen artists from Romania and Zimbabwe featured at the booth\u2014presenting works of sculpture, photography, drawing, and painting\u2014the Catinca T\u0103b\u0103caru Gallery (with locations in Bucharest and Harare) has already sold works to collectors in Croatia and Italy.<\/p>\n

Making its debut in the fair\u2019s main section, it presents the project \u201cHave No Doubt of the Omnipotence of a Free People,\u201d a research-based exhibition curated by Raphael Guilbert. The artists include Ion Grigorescu, Amon Mwareka, Ciprian Mure\u0219an, Portia Zvavahera, Rachel Monosov, Terrence Musekiwa, and Nona Inescu.<\/p>\n

Their works explore the theme of liberation and its consequences, collective memory, heritage, and transmission\u2014the way stories are passed down from one generation to the next and how the promises of freedom continue to be called into question, reconstructed, and reimagined.<\/p>\n
