“Ion Minulescu and Claudia Millian” Memorial House

Theodor Aman Museum

Victor Babes Museum
The museum was reintroduced to the tourist circuit in November 2018 and is dedicated to the memory of the scientist Victor Babes, author of the world’s first treatise on bacteriology. Housed in an eclectic-style building in the north of Bucharest, built in 1928-1929 by the doctor’s son, the museum houses an impressive collection of original scientific works, as well as numerous decorations and honorary orders, including the Legion of Honor and the Order of the Star of Romania. Nicolae Minovici Museum
The museum was inaugurated in 1906 and reconfigured in 2017-2018 and is an outstanding example of neo-Romanesque architecture and passion for folk art. Housed in an owner’s retirement villa, built in 1905, the museum houses an impressive collection of traditional objects: ceramics, textiles, icons and custom-made furniture, all arranged according to the collector’s taste. Each room of this Bucharest memorial house (the guest room, the lounge, the dining room and even the bathroom) becomes a unique exhibition space. In the old family chapel you can admire icons, the divan, altar doors and wooden chandeliers.

Dinu Lipatti Memorial House
The Dinu Lipatti Memorial House is the residence where the great Romanian pianist and composer lived with his family. The house was built in 1902 according to the plans of the architect Petre Antonescu and is an example of architectural elegance and bourgeois atmosphere of the late 19th century. In 2017, on the centenary of Dinu Lipatti’s birth, it was transformed into a House of the Arts organizing: piano lessons for children, concerts and recitals, becoming a vibrant space dedicated to the arts. Since August 2024, this memorial house is part of the Bucharest Municipal Museum.

Anton Pann Memorial House
This house was the first and only one in which the Romanian poet and composer lived rent-free. Anton Pann also wrote famous works such as “The Story of Speech” and “The Nezdrăveniile of Nastratin Hogea,” among other remarkable creations. The permanent exhibition features: book illustrations by famous Romanian artists, modern installations, sheet music, a sound archive, vocal pieces and a collection of 23 19th-century musical instruments. The house, bought by Anton Pann in 1848, is now part of the MNLR heritage.

“Tudor Arghezi” Memorial House
Tudor Arghezi lived and created in this house (also known as “Mărțișor”) since 1930. Transformed into a memorial house in 1974, the house preserves intact 18 rooms and outbuildings, offering visitors access to: original furniture, books, photographs and documents of the great poet. In the courtyard, the parrot’s ticket printing house houses an exhibition dedicated to the Arghezi family and the history of the place, complemented by the screening of the documentary “Prisaca.” The house is renowned for its orchard and the interactive literary workshops organized annually, a unique cultural space that brings Arghezi’s literary legacy to life.

Frederic Storck and Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck Art Museum
The “Frederic Storck and Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck” Museum preserves the creations of an entire family of remarkable artists. Visitors can discover monumental sculptures signed by Karl Storck, the first professor of sculpture at the School of Fine Arts, decorative works by Carol Storck, such as the monument “Gen. Dr. Carol Davila,” and works by Frederic Storck. The collection includes paintings, drawings and objets d’art by Cecillia Cuțescu-Storck, the first woman professor in an art academy in Europe. The museum building is an impressive architectural monument designed by the two artists and built between 1911-1913.

George Bacovia Memorial House
Inaugurated as a museum in 1966, the “George and Agatha Bacovia” Memorial House preserves intact the modest and authentic atmosphere of the symbolist poet’s home. The Gheorghe Tattarescu Museum preserves a unique heritage dedicated to one of Romania’s greatest painters. The building, unique in its early 19th-century inn form, is a historical monument and was the artist’s residence. Gheorghe Tattarescu, founder of the National School of Fine Arts and an outstanding religious painter, produced memorable works, including paintings for 58 churches, such as Colțea and Crețulescu in Bucharest.
