Dâmbovița Delivery 2024 – Art, nature and community
Dâmbovița Delivery returns this year for its fifth edition, on September 21 and 22, a weekend dedicated to transforming the banks of the Dâmbovița River into a dynamic space for recreation, art and sustainability. The event takes place in the Timpuri Noi – Mihai Bravu area, while Splaiul Unirii becomes pedestrianized in the same area. The aim of the edition is to bring the Bucharest community together to rediscover the connection with the city’s river and nature. Dâmbovița Delivery takes place for two days, between 10:00 and 22:00. Admission is free, as is participation in the activities.

Activities on the water
Participants will be able to discover the river from a new perspective, whether they opt for Patzaichin canoe rides, kayaking or stand up paddleboarding. The water activities will offer a unique opportunity for festival participants to experience water sports in the center of Bucharest.
Sustainability and community initiatives
Dâmbovița Delivery 2024 is an entertainment event that encourages community involvement, sustainability and sustainable development. The event maintains its commitment to sustainability by:
- Ecology workshops – dedicated to children, where they learn about recycling and environmental protection in an interactive way.
- Recycling and creative re-packaging workshops – encourage reuse of materials and waste reduction.
- Plant Swap – a community fair where participants can donate or swap plants, promoting urban gardening and sustainable living.
- Air quality measurement workshop with mobile sensors – participants will learn how to measure air quality using portable sensors, discovering in real time pollution levels and their impact on the urban environment.
Throughout the event, the Department for Sustainable Development Pavilion will be open for interaction with visitors, who are challenged to a competition with prizes on sustainability-related themes: the ‘Wheel of Sustainability’.
Dialogue on the water
The Water Dialogue discussions will bring to the fore topics of public interest such as urban sustainability, ecology and the role of the river in transforming the city. Experts from fields such as sociology, architecture, anthropology, history, history, art and culture will explore the potential of the river to become a catalyst for a greener and more sustainable future.
Creative workshops
The event features creative and experiential education workshops:
- Craft and woodwork workshops – for children and adults, the workshops offer a chance to experiment with handicraft techniques.
- Botanical design workshop – participants will work with plants and other natural materials, learning how to create sustainable arrangements.
- Screen printing workshop – Turn old clothes and accessories into unique pieces of art.
- Workshop on painting ducks and objects from recycled materials – Participants will learn how to turn recycled materials into creative toys and accessories.
- Painting and sketching workshops – A space dedicated to creativity, where participants can explore drawing and painting techniques in a relaxed environment.
- Artistic Projections – Participants will be able to create and present animated silhouettes, exploring urban themes and the city’s connection to the river through a fascinating analog shadow theater technique. This workshop is a tribute to Ivan Patzaichin, with a special projection at the end, evoking his cultural legacy.
Urban art
Urban art activities that will take place on the banks of the Dâmbovița river: Graffiti – workshop dedicated to adults and children over 10 years old who want to learn the technique of spray writing from an experienced artist. Stencil on asphalt – where children can create different faces using the stencil technique.
DIY Stickers – participants will discover how to create their own stickers using markers and stickers provided by the organizers. Guided street art tours – participants explore the most interesting street art works in the area with an urban guide with 5 years of experience. Treasure Hunt – to discover unique street art interventions and the chance to win prizes.
Sport, dance and arts events
- Crossfit and Calisthenics – dynamic workouts for those who want to test their physical limits and improve their endurance.
- Yoga on the pontoon and QiGong – activities dedicated to relaxing and connecting with nature, perfect for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
- Dancing in the street – contemporary dance sessions for children and adults.
- DJ Sets – the evenings will be hosted by local DJs.
Art installations and exhibitions
Dâmbovița Delivery 2024 brings art to the heart of the city through large-scale exhibitions and art installations located on the banks of the river. The works designed by local artists add an urban aesthetic and also serve as reflection points on the relationship between the city and nature. The installations and exhibitions created by Florin Cobuz, Andrei Răducanu, Rucsandra Pop, Văcărești Natural Park, Raluca Pavel, Timpuri Noi Civic Initiative Group, Misha Diaconu, Ana Lambru, Alina Ușurelu and Augmented Space Agency will address themes such as ecology, urbanism and sustainability, using unconventional or recycled materials, and will encourage the public to interact directly with art. These impressive structures will transform the banks of the Dâmbovița river into an open-air urban gallery, promoting artistic engagement and environmental awareness.
Movie screenings
The Dâmbovița Delivery weekend will end with outdoor movie screenings, which will address topics such as environment and sustainability in an educational format, including the documentary “IVAN – Man with roots in the waters”. Organizers are Nod Makerspace and Ivan Patzaichin Association – Mile 23.
