
Ctrl Shift Me – The newest artists from Bucharest, about self-perception, the body and divine synchronization / photo gallery
Collage, fabric, slides, video and natural elements are combined in installations, large works, executed with attention to detail, which address themes such as memory, the status of the artist, absence and loss, the online environment.
Made by the latest graduates from the Photo – Video Department of UNArte Bucharest, they are brought together under the title “Ctrl Shift Me” at Rezidența9, where they can be seen until July 27.

The first to catch the eye is Alexia Popescu’s installation of photography and haute-lisse tapestry. Full of color, it is meant to be a safe space of memory. “Al loro catastih m’a făcut pristav” invites the viewer to rediscover the intimacy of their own memory.

Elena Lazarenco’s “Mapped by Memory” is instagrammable, but it also comes with something unique – the interactive installation explores self-perception through slides suspended on wires with delicate lights that can be closely scrutinized.

Arthi Duraisamy presents the mixed media installation ‘Samayā’, a word meaning ‘the right moment’ according to the Sanskrit dictionary. The work talks about the correlation of time, events, consciousness, universe. “I chose Samayā as the theme for my undergraduate project to highlight the importance of divine timing, with the hope that it will inspire people to live authentically, in harmony with the universe,” says the artist.

Maria Bâcu explores the theme of artist and adolescent identity, Alexia Zabara exhibits her diaries, Ioana Ionașcu sounds an alarm signal about the changes that society undergoes in the context of social media. How digital platforms influence our perception is also questioned by Pașca Alex, while Tina Păunescu explores the reality of online relationships.

Cristina Ulmanu brings a new dose of melancholy, talking about how time affects memory, Vasile Tiliban superimposes images to create a realistic movement, Darius Geambazu brings his own family to the fore, a family tree with memories from various socio-political periods, Leonardo Rocha Morales instigates pedestrians to take over the streets of Bucharest.
“Ctrl Shift Me” is on view at Rezidența9 until July 27, Tuesday through Friday from 16:00 to 20:00, and Saturday and Sunday from 13:00 to 20:00. A satellite exhibition is open from June 27 to July 11 at CAV Multimedia, Wednesday to Sunday from 16:00 to 19:00.
