Romanian artists exhibit in the inaugural show of the Taichung Art Museum

Romanian artists are included in the inaugural exhibition of the Taichung Art Museum (Taichung Green Museumbrary, Taiwan), one of the most important and innovative cultural institutions in Asia.

The Romanian participation of artists Irina Botea Bucan and Sebastian Moldovan was coordinated by curator Anca Mihuleț-Kim and supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute.

The opening of the museum, with the exhibition “A Call of All Beings: See you tomorrow, same time, same place”, coincides with the inauguration of the Taichung Green Museumbrary complex, designed by the Japanese SANAA office led by Pritzker Prize winners Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa.
This unique institution, which integrates a metropolitan art museum and Taichung’s central library into a 58,000 square meter facility, is an innovative model in the Asian cultural landscape and the first project of this scale to be realized by SANAA in Taiwan.

One hundred art projects from around the world

The exhibition “A Call of All Beings: See you tomorrow, same time, same place”, curated by the Taichung Art Museum team together with Ling-Chih Chow (Taiwan), Alaina Claire Feldman (USA) and Anca Mihuleț-Kim (Romania/South Korea), brings together more than a hundred art projects from around the world and investigates the relationship between human and non-human, through a combination of intergenerational perspectives and diverse cosmologies. The selected works explore the cultural history of central Taiwan, the relationship between nature and society, as well as new scenarios for the future, integrated in a discourse that dialogues the museum’s permeable architecture with contemporary artistic interventions.

Sebastian Moldovan presents a series of artist’s books, sculptures and objects that investigate the transformations of the contemporary landscape and the possible directions of society, continuing his preoccupations with the ecology of the everyday, drawing, site-specific interventions and the relationship between nature and the built space.
Irina Botea Bucan and Jon Dean propose an installation inspired by their artistic research carried out in the community of Fundata, which brings together 16mm film, large-scale embroidery, artist-designed furniture and an archive of books, activating the theme of the cultural home as a performative and reflexive community space.

The inauguration of Taichung Green Museumbrary takes place on December 13 and is complemented by professional and public events: VIP and press previews, curatorial tours, thematic debates and expert meetings, scheduled from December 11-16, 2025. These activities enable Romanian artists and curators to actively contribute to the cultural exchanges generated by the inauguration of one of the most ambitious museum institutions in the region.
