National Art Museum Timișoara
Housed in the imposing Baroque Palace in Unirii Square, the National Art Museum Timișoara is a major cultural landmark of the city. The museum presents visitors with a vast collection illustrating the evolution of Timișoara’s artistic heritage, from the influences of the post-Byzantine tradition to the refinement of the European Baroque brought by the House of Habsburg. National Museum of Banat
The museum was founded in 1872 and is a landmark institution, housing impressive collections of archaeology, history, natural sciences and art. Originally housed in the Wellauer House, the museum has moved from various locations and since 1948 has been housed in the spectacular historic Huniade Castle. Among its remarkable exhibits are rare artifacts discovered in archaeological excavations, valuable ethnographic objects and decorative art collections. The exhibitions are currently housed in the Maria Theresia Bastion, while Huniade Castle is under repair.

Memorial of the Revolution
The Timisoara Revolution Memorial is a place for those who want to understand the recent history of Romania and Eastern Europe. This museum honors the memory of the December 1989 Heroes-Martyrs and explores the context of the events leading to the fall of communism. Among its attractions are authentic fragments of the Berlin Wall, monuments dedicated to the heroes of the Revolution and exhibitions of photography, fine art and documentaries. Museum of the Communist Consumer
Another place to visit in Timișoara is the Museum of the Communist Consumer, which was born from a private initiative. The exhibition presents objects and products from the period of the communist regime in Romania, reflecting the everyday life of Romanians at that time, including: household appliances, furniture, decorative objects, household items, clothes and products that were available at that time.

Water Museum
The museum is dedicated to the history and technology of the city’s drinking water supply. Built on the site of Timișoara’s first water treatment plant, the museum includes three key points of the technological process: the group of wells (the borehole), the Deferuginator (the filtration plant) and the Pump House (the pumping station). Inaugurated in 1914, the Ciarda Roșie plant has been supplying drinking water to the people of Timișoara for almost 80 years.

Metropolitan Cathedral Museum
The collection of ancient church art of the Archdiocese of Timisoara, housed in the basement of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Timisoara, is a cultural and spiritual treasure. Begun four decades ago, the collection comprises almost 1,000 pieces, including icons on wood, glass and canvas, embroidered, carved and metalwork religious objects and a large collection of old religious books. Dating from the 14th-19th centuries, these exhibits come from churches in the Banat region.

For art enthusiasts who want to take part in the creative expressions of the present, there is the POD Gallery, inaugurated in October 2023 and located in the renovated attic of the Center for Culture and Art of Timis County. The gallery offers a modern exhibition space, having 1400 square meters and preserving architectural elements of a historical monument of type A. This art gallery hosts contemporary art exhibitions and organizes various workshops and cultural-artistic events.
